We went here for a quick bite and this is somewhat a hidden spot inside an old building which is currently under renovation of sorts! They had ample seating inside the restaurant and had a few tables outside too. Must try the Greek skillet and Reuben sandwich. The food was great however there were a lot of flies maybe cause our table was near an exit gate / the dishes were all collected and assembled on a trolley near where we were eating this was only the downside for me!

We really enjoyed a Saturday morning brunch here. Good coffee and delicious French toast. We tried the Banana Nut Bread French toast and the Red Velvet French toast. Yum. Our server was great. Kind and attentive. For a downtown location the prices are reasonable and they have early bird specials until 11am every day. Not to mention the cafe is inside the lobby of a cool historic building. We would recommend this place!

Cool place off the beaten path a bit. True diner style where they have a bit of everything which is equally good. Definitely worth the stop. Pictures are of the French toast and one of their skillets, but you honestly can't go wrong with anything here. I personally had the Santa Fe breakfast burrito. Would do again. Also conveniently located near memorial park so you freely visit the bean after.

I stumbled across this place while walking to Millennium Station. It's inside the Pittsfield Building. It's an excellent diner type establishment. My waitress was friendly and attentive. The menu was extensive; anyone should find something they like here.

A true gem, the likes of which are difficult to find anywhere in big cities in the US anymore, but when you do you know it. This spot is one of those.

Came in for late breakfast or early lunch a few days ago. Got a coke and spicy bacon cheddar skillet. The food is good diner food. I think what makes it special is that it's a restaurant in a skyscraper. Sometimes on the news they interview people in diners. Think it would be neat if they interviewed customers in here and listened to their thoughts on topics of the day. The skillet has jalapenos in it so you get little kicks of spice but it's not overly spicy.

I and a guest returned to the Pittsfield Cafe for lunch today. The service was prompt and friendly and not too surprisingly they had a full house. Food was delicious and I am sure I will return. The building does seem to be occupied and I would love to see the units. The signage to the ADA restrooms is now well-lit as is the staircase to the downstairs. Thank you.

The "Pittsfield Cafe," as the name suggests, locates in the Pittsfield Building. However, where is it at? My co-worker and I were looking for a "sit-down" type of breakfast join but an inexpensive one. We googled it and found this one on the map. We were trying to find the place along Lake St. and almost missed it! The building itself was surrounded by scaffold. It didn't look abandoned yet it was quite inconspicuous. "Pittsfield Cafe," nevertheless, was legit. Perhaps this would be a hold-in-the-wall for some people. I wouldn't say it was for me because everything was held together just fine. Their menu was beyond "extensive," from typical western breakfast items to burgers and to pasta. Everything was priced fairly for the city standard. I kept it simple and ordered "steak and eggs." It was done correctly in my opinion. The steak was somewhat chewy. I expected that since it wasn't anything fancy and I just wanted some hearty protein in my diet. My co-worker received a generous amount of cheesy grits. It was a side order! The server and busser continued to top off our coffee, iced tea, and water. For those who would like to sit in the "patio," there was none outside. It was extended to the actual restaurant and at the open space inside the building atrium. That area had too much echo, so it would be good for solo diners. My co-worker and I talked a lot (gossip??), so we made a right choice to sit near the kitchen. For those want to be economical yet love to enjoy some unlimited diner coffee and breakfast like a good American does, check "Pittsfield Cafe" out. I won't recommend driving and coming from anywhere far. If one happens to be in downtown Chicago and feels hungry, I believe it will be a pleasurable experience by coming here.
